American Pianist

About Alma...
America has in Alma Mehus Studness a heritage of great piano playing. Her playing stems from the masters of two noted styles of piano playing -- Franz Liszt and Anton Rubinstein. She studied with the renowned concert pianists Adele Aus der Ohe and Moriz Rosenthal, both puplis of the famed Franz Liszt, and with Josef Lhevinne, the greatest exponent of the imcomparable Anton Rubinstein.

Because of the prominence of both Lhevinne and Rosenthal in the history of great piano interpreters, it is of moving significance that their pianistc ideals are perpertuated in the playing of Alma Mehus Studness.

In 1924 Alma Mehus Studness enjoyed the distinction of being the youngest American pianist to appear as soloist with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, then considered one of the world's foremost symphonic organizations. Critics acclaimed her performance of the Tchaikowsky B Flat Minor Concerto and pronounced her "a superb piano artist." She was engaged for the following season with the same orchestras and other European orchestras. She played in Germany, Italy, and Norway.
